With the outbreak of the Spanish American War, Hoyt enlisted in the United States Army Volunteer Corps as a medical surgeon. He saw action in the Philippines. Originally published in 1929. The book contains biographical sketches of some of the individuals in the book. There is also a post script about Hoyt meeting Jesse James in New Mexico. Lakeside Classics. R. R.
