The Julia M Carson Transit Center is the $26.5M hub for Indianapolis mass transit and a signature project in the renaissance of downtown Indianapolis. The 14,000 sf facility was designed with modern, sleek lines to present iconic architecture and design to the community. IndyGo directed the team to design a high performing project, and we were able to deliver LEED Gold Certification. Guidon provided civil engineering and sustainability consulting for the transformative project.

At the ribbon cutting on June 21, 2016, Senator Andre Carson emphasized that the facility embodied his grandmother’s lifelong fight for civil rights and inclusion, stating that “it symbolizes everyone having access to everything.” Julia Carson was an ardent advocate for equity and would have been proud of the dignified, empowering transit hub.
This project has received numerous awards, including the 2017 Monumental Awards for Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Engineering.
